A sustainable material
Cork is a wonderfully renewable material. It is harvested by hand from the bark of cork oak trees, allowing the trees to remain standing and naturally regenerate their bark. This process supports the long-term health of the trees and the wider Montado ecosystem.
Cork oak forests are important carbon-storing ecosystems, absorbing significant amounts of CO₂. Choosing cork products helps support the continued use and preservation of these valuable landscapes.
At the end of its life, the trivet can be composted or recycled, and LIGA also runs a nationwide cork recycling scheme through its stockists.
Please note: Natural cork varies in colour, texture and grain, so every trivet will have its own unique appearance.
